Vision Engineering

The Senior Broadcast Vision Engineer is responsible for the proper working of all the equipment in and connected to the Outside Broadcast Van or in the studio during a television production and is responsible for the image quality of the recording or live broadcast. The Senior Broadcast Vision Engineer builds-up a production for broadcast, configures the systems and networks to the changing client requirements, takes care of the technical monitoring of the broadcast output to ensure integrity of signals delivered for transmission, performs camera control operations during recordings or live transmissions like adjusting camera exposure and colour balancing to the expected high standard, delivers first-line maintenance on-site, identifies equipment faults, implements repairs or effective work-arounds, has a proactive communication with clients and colleagues to solve issues quickly and effectively.

The Broadcast Vision Engineer supports the Senior Vision Engineer during the preparation of the production and is responsible for the quality of the live picture during recording or live broadcast. During this recording or live broadcast one or more vision engineers view the action on the set through video monitors and measuring equipment and control the diaphragm, black level, color balance, filters and matrix settings of each camera. Each vision engineer controlling up to maximum five camera’s at the same time (average). They also monitor the program output to ensure the technical quality of the broadcast.
